Meghan Markle and Prince Harry showed off their newborn baby son to the world on Wednesday afternoon, and later announced he was to be called Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex posted a heartwarming image online of the Queen, Prince Philip and Doria Ragland, alongside Meghan, Prince Harry and their newborn son. Alexandra Shulman, former editor of the British edition of Vogue, claimed the image posted on Instagram, captured a “very rare” moment from the Queen, before adding the photo call would have been “very very thought about”.
She told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “I thought it was an absolutely lovely image. I don’t think anybody could do anything other than feel really quite joyful with the look on the Queen’s face.
“You very rarely see her so kind of smiling in that way, really joyful.
“I loved, of course, Doria Ragland, looking down at her grandson so tenderly.
“I kind of thought they were the particular stars of that image.”

Asked about how much thought would have gone into the planning of the royal photoshoot, Ms Shulman said: “I think with these photo call images, whether they are put out on Instagram, or they go out onto the television or newspapers, they are very very thought about.
“There won’t really be a detail that hadn’t been thought about. I think they would have had a lot of shots to choose from.
“They have chosen very deliberately a shot where it doesn’t look like they are standing there in a formal line-up presenting a new member of the Royal Family.”
Posting the image of the family on Instagram, the SussexRoyal account said: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
“This afternoon Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle.
“The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duchess’ mother were also present for this special occasion.”
The image has received her 2.5million likes on the social platform.
On Wednesday, Meghan and Prince Harry posed for pictures with the tiny infant in the St George’s Hall in Windsor Castle, just two days after he was born.
The Duchess of Sussex said: “It’s magic, it’s pretty amazing. I have the two best guys in the world so I’m really happy.”
As her husband held their son, Meghan added: “He has the sweetest temperament, he’s really calm.”
Asked who the baby takes after, Meghan said: “We’re still trying to figure that out.”
Prince Harry added: “Everyone says that babies change so much over two weeks we’re basically monitoring how the changing process happens over this next month really. But his looks are changing every single day, so who knows.”
Asked how he found parenting, Harry said: “It’s great. Parenting is amazing. It’s only been two and a half days, three days, but we’re just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy.”
Asked to show more of their son’s face to the cameras, Meghan laughed as Prince Harry joked: “He’s already got a little bit of facial hair as well, wonderful.”
A month before the birth of the royal baby, Buckingham Palace announced Meghan and Prince Harry had decided to “celebrate privately” and would not take part in the traditional public photo shoot other members of the Royal Family partook into over the past three decades.
Announcing the birth of his baby boy on Monday, Prince Harry told the world: “I’m very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy this morning – a very healthy baby boy.
“Mother and baby are doing incredibly well.
“It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever possibly imagine. How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension.
“We are both absolutely thrilled and so grateful to all the love and support from everybody out there, it’s been amazing, so we just wanted to share this with everybody.”
