WhatsApp to look unrecognisable after major app redesign

WhatsApp has been getting a lot of new features lately, but a bigger redesign is on the way for Android users.

As a part of the WhatsApp beta for Android, select beta testers have been given a peek at the new user interface, as reported by WABetaInfo.

According to the screenshots, the app’s top bar will now be entirely white, while the other parts of the screen will be in WhatsApp’s signature green.

The beta release also shows a new font for WhatsApp’s branding at the top.

The redesign follows a recent change to the app’s design on the beta channel relocating the navigation bar to the bottom and updating some UI elements.

While the navigation bar is still at the bottom in the new design, it is unclear if you can swipe to switch between tabs.

The new app design will also have chat filters at the top to let you see your unread, personal, or business messages easily.

These filters should come in handy when WhatsApp rolls out multi-account support, which is still in beta.

Still, the new design is only in beta so there are bound to be more changes before it’s released. As the design nears its final stages, WhatsApp should roll it out to beta testers before a public release.
