Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi became parents to a baby daughter on Saturday, Buckingham Palace has announced. The royal baby is Princess Beatrice’s first child and her husband Edoardo’s second, as he already has a son known as Wolfie from a previous relationship. Princess Beatrice’s baby daughter is the Queen’s 12th great-grandchild.

Beatrice’s sister Princess Eugenie has already publicly congratulated Beatrice on her new arrival in a gushing post on Instagram.

Eugenie wrote a heartfelt message to her sister which read: “I can’t wait to meet her and I’m so proud of you.

“We’re going to have so much fun watching our children grow up.”

Eugenie also welcomed her first child earlier this year, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, who will be a cousin to Beatrice’s daughter.

When can we expect the first picture of Beatrice’s baby?

Buckingham Palace has confirmed Beatrice and Edoardo welcomed their baby daughter on Saturday at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

The Palace has also informed the public that Beatrice’s daughter weighed six pounds and two ounces and that the baby’s grandparents and great-grandparents are “delighted”.

However, few other details have been released yet about the baby’s name or what she looks like.

ITV News Royal Editor Chris Ship tweeted on Monday that there is “no name or photo yet”, but royal fans can “expect that in a couple of days”.

Beatrice may opt to follow the precedent set by her sister, Princess Eugenie, when it comes to royal baby photos.

Eugenie shared an adorable black and white photo on Instagram of her and husband Jack Brooksbank holding their newborn son’s tiny hand following his birth.

Almost a fortnight later, Eugenie posted an adorable snap of her son on Instagram, introducing August Philip Hawke Brooksbank to the world.

Although Beatrice is not on Instagram, she is a Twitter user and so may decide to share a snap of her new bundle of joy on social media over the coming weeks.

When will the name of Princess Beatrice’s baby be announced?

Royal baby names are not usually announced at the same time as birth announcements.

So royal fans may still have some time to wait before finding out what Beatrice and Edoardo have named their daughter.

However, speculation is already mounting among the public on what the new royal baby might be named.

Jessica O’Reilly of bookmakers Ladbrokes said: “It should come as no surprise to see that punters are backing slightly more unusual names for the new royal baby given Beatrice and her sister’s monikers.”

She added: “Matilda and Florence are proving popular names at the top of the betting, along with other Italian inspired choices such as Arabella and Giovanna.”

Beatrice may choose to honour the Queen with her baby’s middle name, as has often been the case when royal baby girls are born.

Beatrice’s own middle name is Elizabeth in honour of her grandmother, and she may opt to give her daughter the middle name too.
