With swathes of traditional royal events cancelled due to Covid restrictions since 2020, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have made fewer public appearances than in previous years. Royal fans may have been hopeful George, Charlotte and Louis would appear for a festive outing with their parents in December for the Duchess of Cambridge’s Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey. However, the little royals were left at home for the event, and several members of the Royal Family stepped out to support Kate at the event instead.

In previous years, Prince George and Princess Charlotte have been seen walking to church on Christmas Day morning with the rest of the Royal Family.

However, the Queen’s traditional Christmas at Sandringham was cancelled for 2021 for the second year running amid the spread of the Omicron Covid variant in the UK.

With many royal events cancelled, some may be wondering when the Cambridge children will likely be making their next public appearance.

And in 2022, it is highly likely George, Charlotte and Louis will appear publicly when a long-standing royal event is expected to return.

Trooping the Colour is the Queen’s annual birthday parade, and it traditionally sees crowds line the streets of London in June every year.

The extended Royal Family gather on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to wave to well-wishers and watch the Red Arrows flypast.

However, for the last two years, Trooping the Colour has taken place on a smaller scale at Windsor Castle to avoid crowds gathering amid the threat of coronavirus.

This year, however, Trooping the Colour is expected to return and this time the event will be particularly significant, as it will mark the Queen’s 70-year long reign.

George, Charlotte and Louis may be out and about with their parents before June, but they are also highly likely to appear alongside their parents for Trooping the Colour this year.

Plenty of pictures of the Cambridge family are likely to be released this year as well.

Royal fans were treated to a new photo of Kate, William and their three adorable children when they released their 2021 Christmas card last month.

The Cambridge’s opted for a snap of their family on holiday in Jordan earlier last year, and they looked every inch the happy family as they all beamed for the camera.

A string of birthday portraits are also expected in the first half of 2022.

Kate, Duchess of Cambridge celebrates her 40th birthday on January 9, a milestone that is sure to be marked with a new portrait next week.

Prince Louis will celebrate his fourth birthday on April 23, while Princess Charlotte will turn seven on May 2.

And on June 21, Prince William will also celebrate his 40th birthday.

The Cambridge’s birthday portraits are always firm favourites with royal fans, as Kate will often put a personal touch on the royal tradition by taking the photographs of her children herself to mark their special days.
