G20 leaders have agreed on climate neutrality ‘by or around mid-century’ in a final document ahead of the Cop26 conference.
The communique calls for ‘meaningful and effective’ action to limit global warming at 1.5C.
But it makes no reference to a specific 2050 deadline to achieve net zero carbon emissions, which scientists say is vital to stave off disastrous climate change.
