Princess Anne, 70, is a senior royal but is 15th in line to the throne while her daughter Zara Tindall, 39, is in 19th place. Unlike her mother, Zara is not a working member of the monarchy but nonetheless, both her and Anne’s royal status will undergo a shift following the arrival of Meghan Markle, 39, and Prince Harry’s, 36, second child.
Meghan and Harry announced their baby news on Valentine’s Day with a new black and white photo and a statement confirming they were pregnant with their second child.
The couple are already parents to Archie Harrison, one, and are said to be “overjoyed” about expecting another baby.
A Sussex spokeswoman confirmed: “Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”
Despite having stepped down as a senior royal last March, Prince Harry has kept his place in the line of succession and is still sixth in line to the throne.
Harry and Meghan’s son Archie is seventh in line and their second child will be eighth in line when they are born.
The birth of Meghan and Harry’s second baby will prompt a shift in the line of succession as royals below Harry will be shunted down a spot.
Princess Anne and Zara have already been moved down a place following the arrival of Princess Eugenie’s first child last Tuesday.
Eugenie is 10th in line to the throne and her son is in 11th place.
This meant that Anne and Zara moved from 14th and 18th place to 15th and 19th respectively.
Anne will be pushed down to 16th in line and Zara to 20th when Meghan and Harry’s new baby is born.
Meghan is not the only pregnant royal as Zara is also currently expecting her third child with husband Mike Tindall.
Mike revealed their happy news ahead of Christmas and their baby is expected to arrive this spring.

While Meghan and Harry have not confirmed their baby’s due date, the duchess is thought to be about five months pregnant.
This could mean Meghan and Zara give birth around the same time later this year.
Depending on which of the royal babies are born first they will be the Queen and Prince Philip’s 10th and 11th greatgrandchildren.
Prince Harry was due back in the UK to celebrate his grandfather Prince Philip’s 100th birthday on June 10.
However, there are now fears the Duke may have to forgo the special milestone as it could clash with the arrival of his second child.
Prince Harry and Meghan have not been back to Britain since the stepped down as senior royals last March.
They have since settled in Montecito, Santa Barbara and are expected to remain based in the USA for good.
It is understood Meghan and Harry wish to raise their children as private citizens away from the royal bubble.
Given their withdrawal from the monarchy, it is not clear when they will next return to Britain as a family.
