DP World H1 Profit Rises; LFL Revenue Growth At 20.1%

DP World Limited (DPW.L) reported first half adjusted EBITDA before separately disclosed items of $2.44 billion, up 34.6%, or an increase of 23.6% like-for-like from prior year. Profit for the period attributable to owners of the company before separately disclosed items increased to $721 million from $475 million.

Revenue was $7.93 billion, up 60.4% reported from last year. Like-for-like revenue growth was 20.1%, for the period.

The Group expects growth rate to moderate in second half of 2022 on more challenging economic environment.

Rank Group Swings To Profit For Full Year

The Rank Group (RNK.L), a British gambling company, on Thursday reported a turnaround to profit for the fiscal 2022, amidst a surge in revenues.

For the 12-month to June, Maidenhead-based firm posted a pre-tax profit of 74.3 million pounds, compared with a loss of 107.3 million pounds reported for 2021.

Profit was at 66.2 million pounds or 14.2 pence per share as against 72 million pounds or 16.5 pence per share in loss of previous fiscal.

Group operating profit stood at 82.1 million pounds, versus a loss of 92.9 million pounds, on year-on-year basis.

The Group’s revenues surged to 644 million pounds from last year’s 329.6 million pounds.

Commenting on the current trading, the company said: “Trading conditions are likely to remain challenging in the months ahead with high inflation hitting consumer discretionary expenditure and inflationary cost pressures, particularly the further rise in energy prices in recent weeks, continuing to impact operating margins. However, the successful migration to proprietary technology within the digital business, and the investment into the venues estate, result in us being able to compete strongly in the coming year.”

Youdao Q2 Net Loss Narrows, Revenues Down; Says Confident In H2

Chinese internet communication company, Youdao, Inc. (DAO) reported Thursday that its second-quarter net loss attributable to ordinary shareholders was RMB 453.89 billion or $67.8 million, compared to loss of RMB 524.35 million last year.

The prior year’s net loss from continuing operations attributable to shareholders was RMB234.9 million.

Net loss per American depositary shares or ADSs from continuing operations was RMB3.67 or $0.55, compared to last year’s reported net loss of RMB 4.29 and loss from continuing operations of RMB1.92.

Adjusted net loss was RMB435.8 million or $65.1 million, compared adjusted net loss from continuing operations of RMB215.0 million in the prior year.

Adjusted net loss per ADS was RMB3.52 or $0.53, compared to adjusted net loss from continuing operations of RMB1.76 per ADS a year ago.

Total net revenues were RMB956.2 million or $142.8 million, down 2.4 percent from RMB979.9 million for the same period of 2021.

Looking ahead, Feng Zhou, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Youdao, said, “We are on the right track and confident in the second half of this year boosted by the new products and services.”
