Quest Diagnostics Drops On Reduced Earnings, Revenue Expectations For Q4

Quest Diagnostics Inc. (DGX) shares are declining on Wednesday morning trade after the company said it expects fourth-quarter revenue and earnings per share to decline from the previous year.

The diagnostic information services company noted that its fourth-quarter revenue of $2.74, compared to $3.00 billion last year.

The company expects earnings per share for the fourth quarter to be $3.12 compared to $4.21 in 2020, while adjusted earnings is expected to be $3.33, compared to $4.48 in the fourth quarter of 2020.

The company said fourth-quarter results reflect higher than expected demand for COVID-19 testing services, while base testing volumes remained steady.

For the full year 2021, Quest Diagnostics expects revenue to be approximately $10.79 billion, an increase of 14 percent from $9.44 billion in 2020.

Earnings per share for the full year is expected to be $15.55 compared to $10.47 in 2020 and adjusted earnings is expected to be $14.24, compared to $11.18 in 2020.

Currently, shares are trading at $150.78, down 5 percent from the previous close of $157.88 on a volume of 540,375. For the 52-week period, the shares have traded in a range of $1113.36-$174.16 on average volume of 1,232,661.

Suedzucker Turns To Profit In Q3 On Strong Revenues; Backs FY22 Outlook – Quick Facts

German sugar producer Suedzucker AG (SUEZF.PK) Thursday reported that its third-quarter result from operations was 90 million euros, compared to last year’s loss of 74 million euros.

Operating result surged 90.8 percent from last year to 127 million euros. Operating margin was 6.2 percent, up from 3.8 percent a year ago.

EBITDA was 241 million euros, up 32.9 percent from last year. EBITDA margin was 11.8 percent, higher than 10.4 percent a year ago.

Revenues for the quarter climbed 17.4 percent to 2.04 billion euros from 1.74 billion euros a year ago.

Looking ahead for fiscal 2022, the company continues to expect consolidated group operating result to range between 320 million euros and 380 million euros. In the previous year, profit was 236 million euros.

Consolidated group revenues are still expected to be 7.3 billion euros to 7.5 billion euros. The previous year’s revenues were 6.7 billion euros. A significant increase in revenues is anticipated in the sugar and starch segments.

Overall, Südzucker Group expects to produce 4.2 million tonnes of sugar from 27.7 million tonnes of sugar beets.

In the previous year, the company produced 3.5 million tonnes of sugar from 24.1 million tonnes of sugar beets.

Disney+ Unveils Trailer And Poster For ‘The Ice Age Adventures Of Buck Wild’

The animation movie studio, Disney+ adds another movie to the Ice Age franchise named the ‘The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild’ which is set to come out by the end of January. Disney+ has released the trailer earlier this week.

The movie will rotate around the character of Buck the weasel (voiced by Simon Pegg) who was introduced in the fifth installment of the franchise Ice Age: Dawn of The Dinosaurs released almost 6 years back. The trailer shows Buck as an alpha who is not afraid of daunting situations but ultimately requires rescuing by the familiar Ice Age heroes Manny, Ellie, Sid, and Diego.

The film is also set in The Lost World where the weasels live in “the most dangerous place on Earth”, living a life of constant struggle amongst the huge predators and other life-threatening traps “to save the Lost World from dinosaurs domination”.

Simon Pegg has also played as a voice actor in Mission: Impossible- Fallout will be joined by Utkarsh Ambudkar (Free Guy), Justina Machado (One Day at a Time), Vincent Tong (Ninjago), and Aaron Harris. John C. Donkin is the director of the film and it is written by Jim Hecht (Ice Age: The Meltdown), Ray DeLaurentis (Fairly Odd Parents), and Will Schifrin (Bunsen Is a Beast) from a story by Jim Hecht.

The movie is set to stream on Disney+ on January 28. The platform has five other movies of the franchise and two more specials.

Fast Retailing Q1 Profit Climbs, Backs FY22 Outlook – Quick Facts

Fast Retailing Co. Ltd. (FRCOY.PK) reported Thursday that its first-quarter profit attributable to owners of the parent climbed 33 percent to 93.59 billion Japanese yen from last year’s 70.38 billion yen.

Earnings per share were 914.87 yen, up from 688.17 yen last year.

Operating profit was 119.41 billion yen, 5.6 percent higher than prior year’s 113.09 billion yen.

Revenue for the quarter grew 1.2 percent to 627.39 billion yen from 619.80 billion yen a year ago.

Looking ahead for fiscal 2022, Fast Retailing continues to expect attributable profit of 175 billion yen or 1,713.26 yen per basic share, operating profit of 270 billion yen and revenue of 2.2 trillion yen.

Further, the company plans dividends of 260 yen per share in the second quarter and at year end. This brings the total dividend for the year of 520 yen per share.
