Queens barbershop worker left brain-damaged after bat attack

Shocking video shows a clumsy but violent bat attack that left a Queens barbershop worker brain-damaged and disfigured, police said Thursday.

The 41-year-old was inside the barbershop on Metropolitan Avenue near 54th Street in Ridgewood, where he was drinking with a friend around 12:40 a.m. Sunday, when he went outside to confront the two men for being loud — and took a baseball bat with him, cops and law enforcement sources said.

That’s when police said the man and the two others, whom police said were all drunk, began arguing and then fighting, according to surveillance footage released by police Thursday.

The footage initially shows the victim swinging the bat at the other man several times before falling to the ground and losing his grip on the weapon.

That’s when one of his rivals tries stomping on the downed man, but falls before completing the kick, the video shows.

His accomplice then runs over and grabs the bat, delivering one blow to the victim’s head and another to his torso.

The pair ran from the crime scene, leaving the man lying on the sidewalk critically injured, police said.

Cops said the victim suffered brain damage and permanent disfigurement.

He was rushed to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where he was in a medically induced coma.
