Caladrius Biosciences Tanks 19% On Proposed Merger

Shares of clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company Caladrius Biosciences, Inc. (CLDS) are down 19 percent on Wednesday’s trading after the company announced that its stockholders had approved the merger between Caladrius and Cend Therapeutics. Following the merger, Caladrius will change its corporate name from “Caladrius Biosciences, Inc.” to “Lisata Therapeutics, Inc.”

Currently at $0.4188, the stock has traded between $0.3820 and $1.2400 during the past 52 weeks.

New York (CNN Business)McDonald’s roughly 1,200 locations across the United Kingdom will close for most of the day Monday for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.

“All of our UK restaurants will be closed on Monday until 5 pm, to allow everyone at McDonald’s to pay their respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” the company wrote in a tweet.
September 19 has been declared a public holiday across the United Kingdom. A number of retailers and restaurants have announced they’re closing for the day, including Greggs, Harrods, John Lewis, Marks and Spencer, Asda and Primark.

    London’s financial markets and banks will also be closed Monday for the last day of national mourning.

      Specific details for the funeral, taking place in London, haven’t yet been revealed. However, the coffin will travel in procession to Westminster Abbey for the funeral in the morning. After the service, it will travel to St. George’s Chapel, Windsor, for a committal service.

        McDonald’s cautioned that “hours and services may vary” after it re-opens Monday evening and encouraged customers to check its app for latest information.
        The UK government has said the decision on whether to close is a matter for individual businesses. Supermarkets and restaurants typically remain open on public holidays.

          BioAffinity Technologies Shares Spike

          bioAffinity Technologies, Inc. (BIAF) shares are surging after the announcement of the publication of its research in high-throughput flow cytometry analysis of sputum in the journal Plos One.

          The analysis by flow cytometry will be the basis for high-throughput diagnostic tests to determine the health of the lungs.

          bioAffinity Technologies said the company is addressing the need for non-invasive diagnosis of early-stage cancer and diseases of the lung and targeted cancer treatment.

          Currently, shares are at $6.27, up 51.45 percent from the previous close of $4.14 on a volume of 27,144,576.

          Nucor Stock Slips 8% On Q3 Outlook

          Shares of Nucor Corporation (NUE) are slipping over 8% on Wednesday morning hurt by the company’s third-quarter outlook.

          NUE is currently trading at $125.06, down $11.04 or 8.11%, on the Nasdaq. The stock opened its trading at $130.99 after closing Tuesday’s trading at $136.10. The stock has traded between $88.50 and $187.90 in the past 52-week period.

          Nucor now expects third-quarter earnings to be in the range of $6.30 to $6.40 per share. Nucor reported net earnings of $9.67 per share in the second quarter of 2022 and $7.28 per share in the third quarter of 2021.

          The company said it expects the steel mills segment earnings to be considerably lower in the third quarter of 2022 as compared to the second quarter of 2022, due to metal margin contraction and reduced shipping volumes particularly at its sheet and plate mills.

          The steel products segment is expected to have another strong quarter in the third quarter of 2022, with earnings roughly in-line with the second quarter of 2022. Raw materials segment earnings are expected to be similar to the second quarter of 2022.

          Block Shares Downfall Continues

          Shares of technology company Block Inc. (SQ) fell 4 percent on Wednesday’s trading continuing their down ward movement for the past two days.

          On Wednesday, the stock was negatively impacted by news of analysts Evercore ISI downgrading the stock from Outperform to Underperform and slashing the price target from $120.00 to $55.00.

          Currently at $66.69, the stock has traded between $56.01 and $270.16 during the past 52 weeks.

          Timber Pharma Gains 9% On Positive Opinion On Orphan Designation From EMA For TMB-001

          Shares of Timber Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (TMBR) are gaining over 9% on Wednesday morning after receiving positive opinion on orphan designation from EMA for TMB-001 for treatment of autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis.

          TMBR is currently trading at $0.1345, up $0.0115 or 9.35%, on the Nasdaq. The stock opened its trading at $0.1300 after closing Tuesday’s trading at $0.1230.

          Timber Pharmaceuticals, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of treatments for rare and orphan dermatologic diseases, announced that the Committee for Orphan Medicinal Products (COMP) at the European Medicines Agency (EMA) issued a positive opinion on the company’s application for orphan designation for TMB-001 for the treatment of autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis (ARCI).

          Based on the COMP’s opinion, the European Commission is expected to issue its decision on the orphan designation in approximately 30 days.

          US Reports 29% Fall In Covid Cases In 2 Weeks

          The number of Covid positive cases in the United States has fell by 29 percent in the last fortnight, as per the New York Times’ latest data.

          A 9 percent fall was recorded in Covid casualties in the country during the same period.

          With 520 additional deaths reporting on Tuesday, the total number of people losing their lives due to coronavirus infection in the country has risen to 1,051,323, as per Johns Hopkins University’s latest data.

          67306 new infections on the same day took the total U.S. Covid cases to 95,390,557.

          Michigan reported the most number of deaths – 150 – and most cases – 10,062.

          1944 additional deaths were reported globally on Tuesday, taking the total number of people who lost their lives due to the pandemic so far to 6,518,352.

          93,460,171 people have so far recovered from the disease, the Worldometer tally shows.

          U.S. hospitals reported a 10 percent decrease in the number of Covid patients in the last two weeks. The number of I.C.U. admissions due to the worse stage of the viral disease has fallen by 8 percent.

          U.S. Covid hospitalizations fell to 34,076. 4,133 of these patients are admitted in intensive care units.

          The nation’s current test positivity rate is 12 percent.
