Boris Johnson has suffered a dramatic drop in support among voters as the latest polls plunged the Prime Minister into crisis mode. Former Home Secretary Amber Rudd told LBC that the Prime Minister could lose his grip on power if he is not careful. This comes as a new bombshell poll suggested the Tories now trail the Labour Party by six points.
Ms Rudd said: “The Tory Party is ruthless.
“If it starts to look like the Prime Minister is no longer an asset and MPs are starting to look at the next election and seeing the polls are against them, somebody may well move against him.
“We are not there yet at the moment, but these are the logical steps that could take place over the next few months.”
The Government has suffered a major backlash ever since Tory MPs attempted to re-write the rules in a bid to delay the suspension of former minster Owen Paterson for breaking lobbying rules.

Allegations of Tory sleaze have also dogged the Government after it emerged several Tory parliamentarians have taken lucrative second jobs.
Mr Johnson’s former editor at The Telegraph Sir Max Hastings also told LBC that Boris Johnson will be replaced as Tory leader “sooner rather than later”.
He said: “I do think we have got to start looking for someone better to succeed him.
“I doubt Boris Johnson can change, and Rishi Sunak does look the most impressive candidate at the moment.

“This is not about reversing Brexit, it is just about trying to get a responsible Government.”
Piers Morgan echoed Sir Max’s point, as he also predicted that Rishi Sunak will replace Boris Johnson within a year.
Reacting to the latest poll, the outspoken broadcaster tweeted: “Boris ‘laws are made to be broken’ Johnson’s sleazy chickens are coming home to roost.
“I predict Rishi Sunak will be Prime Minister within a year.”
