Boris Johnson has dramatically pulled out of the Tory leadership race stating that “it is not the right thing to do.” His decision late on leaves the path open for Rishi Sunak, his former Chancellor, who was instrumental in deposing him in July.
Mr Sunak now has almost a majority of Tory MPs nominating him although rival Penny Mordaunt is still officially in the race.
