Sir Patrick Vallance and Professor Chris Whitty were united in the belief that people will be forced to live with coronavirus for a considerable while longer. Britain’s top scientists told the Downing Street Covid briefing on Tuesday that the likelihood of the virus being eliminated completely was “next to zero”.
