The Swedish climate change activist changed her Twitter bio to read “bunny hugger”, in a clear dig aimed at Mr Johnson. Eagle-eyed Twitter users spotted the change just hours after the UK Prime Minister said climate action was not all “politically correct bunny hugging”. He made the comment while addressing world leaders at an online summit organised by US President Joe Biden.

The 18-year-old changed her Twitter bio shortly after Mr Johnson made the comments.

She removed everything else from her bio, which previously read: “Seriously annoying climate and environmental activist with Asperger’s.”

The Prime Minister made the comment at the world summit, which was aimed at galvanising efforts to tackle climate change and keep global warming to within 1.5C.

Speaking at the virtual event, Mr Johnson said making the appropriate changes was not about “bunny hugging”.

He said: ““It’s vital for all of us to show that this is not all about some expensive politically correct green act of ‘bunny-hugging’ or however you want to put it.

“Nothing wrong with bunny-hugging but you know what I’m driving at.”

It is not known what quite the Prime Minister meant by the phrase, but Ms Thunberg was quick to take up the moniker.

The teenage activist is known for mocking world leaders, usually taking aim at former US President Donald Trump.

The Republican, who once described climate change as a “hoax”, has frequently mocked and belittled Ms Thunberg.

In 2019, Trump accused her of having anger management issues and advised her to “chill”.

He tweeted: “Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!”

In response, the activist changed her Twitter bio to read: “A teenager working on her anger management problem.

“Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend.”

In September 2019 Ms Thunberg attended a United Nation’s conference on climate change.

During the visit, the teenager was spotted giving the American President an intense glare as he arrived at the building in New York.

The clip soon went viral.

Speaking after the summit, Ms Thunberg said she wouldn’t have waster her time talking to President Trump about climate change.

During an interview on BBC Radio 4, where she was asked what she would have said to Trump, she said: “Honestly, I don’t think I would have said anything.

“Because obviously he’s not listening to scientists and experts, so why would he listen to me?

“So I probably wouldn’t have said anything, I wouldn’t have wasted my time.”
