Boris Johnson was grilled by Ian Blackford over the UK Government’s deadline to help Afghanistan refugees settle in the UK. Mr Blackford said: “We’re left with no updates and vague targets. Can the Prime Minister finally tell us when the resettlement scheme will open, can he guarantee that 20,000 Afghans will be resettled, and when exactly is the deadline for that to happen?”
In response, Mr Johnson said: “We made a commitment to resettle 20,000 Afghans in addition to those that we brought out during Operation Pitting which I think most people would think was a pretty remarkable feat by UK armed services.
“Many of those 15,000 are already being integrated into the UK, into schools and communities and we help them any way that we can.
“I’m afraid he’s completely wrong in the stance the UK has taken towards Afghans and the changes there, we continue to engage.”
Mr Blackford then began shouting over the Prime Minister to “answer the question”.
Mr Johnson continued: “Just to get to his point while he rather uncivilly calls out.
“What we’re insisting on is safe passage for those who wish to come and settle in this country.”
The SNP leader went on to say “answer the question” five times before Mr Johnson retorted: “I have answered the question!”
