The SNP Westminster leader Ian Blackford lashed out at Boris Johnson and insisted that he does not follow the rules he urges Brits to. Speaking in the House of Commons, Mr Blackford asked: “It is deeply regrettable that we are once again forced to spend so much time in this house discussing the Prime Minister’s misconduct but when the person in charge so blatantly breaks the rules, it needs to be talked about. Last Christmas, the Prime Minister hosted a packed party in Downing Street, an event that broke lockdown rules, rules that everyone else were expected to follow.

“At a time when public health messaging is so vital, how are people possibly expect to trust a Prime Minister when he thinks it’s one rule for him and one rule for everyone else?”

Mr Johnson replied: “I think they should assert their line of attack more closely.

“I said before that he is talking total nonsense.

“I think he would have been better off talking about the victims of Storm Arwen in Scotland.”
