Shoppers in an Aldi store have been filmed in a chaotic stampede to grab toilet roll as coronavirus panic grips the world.

Stores across the globe have been left with shortages in loo roll, hand gel and dried food as the deadly disease continues to claim lives.

The clip shows people filling the loo roll aisle before desperately trying to nab the product on the shelves.

Shoppers then try to barge past others to make it to the tills.

Another commented: “The thing is that 80% of these people aren’t stocking up on toilet paper because of the coronavirus, they’re rushing to buy toilet paper because they’re scared of not having toilet paper themselves because of the people panicking over the coronavirus.

“Which creates more hysteria because the demand for toilet paper becomes higher, introducing new people panicking over not getting toilet paper for their normal use. It’s an ironic circle of hysteria.”

And a third said: “So selfish what about the pensioners who are unable and don’t have the money to buy up big as well. Selfish.”

Aldi is among a number of supermarket chains in Australia to have limited its toilet paper supplies to one pack per customer, down from four, report

The country has had 100 confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the time of writing, with three deaths.

In the UK, Tesco has rationed customers to buying five cupboard essentials each.
