Investigators say the driver in a fatal crash on Lee Hill Drive turned left in front of an oncoming cyclist, causing the collision.
The cyclist was identified late Friday as Alejandro Acosta Obando, 39, of Boulder.
Colorado State Patrol Master Trooper Gary Cutler said Obando was biking east on Lee Hill Road at 6:20 p.m. Thursday while a 68-year-old Boulder man was driving west.
Cutler said Friday it appears the driver tried to make a left turn onto Wagon Wheel Gap road in front of Obando, and the cyclist hit the vehicle and was thrown from the bike.
The driver, who has not yet been publicly identified because charges have not been filed, remained on scene. Cutler said alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
Cutler said the state patrol will now pass on its findings to the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office for a decision on possible charges.
The Boulder County District Attorney’s Office said it could not comment on the case Friday because of the status of the investigation.
