Builder 'murdered his young children by putting building foam down their throats

A man is alleged to have killed his children by strangling them and then putting building foam down their throats to ‘make sure that they could not be resuscitated’.

The French builder, identified only as 55-year-old Laurent F. because of local privacy laws, is accused of killing his son Leo, 5, and daughter Maya, 2, ‘so he could get revenge on his wife for leaving him’.

The trial, which is being conducted in Germany, heard that the man had been living in Dresden where he had a building firm that got into severe financial difficulties.

Two years ago, his wife moved out of the family home and only last year, according to local media, he was arrested for trying to smuggle a kilogramme of crystal meth into the country from Poland.

The court was told that he increasingly blamed his ex-wife for his troubles and wanted revenge.

After allegedly killing the two children while they were staying with him he then tried to kill his estranged wife, 27-year-old Marieta F, as she came to collect the children in May last year.

However, she only survived the blows to her head from a heavy object because of a thick wig that she had been wearing.

He is reported to have continued to subject her to a brutal attack, which only stopped after concerned neighbours intervened and who later discovered that the mouths of the children had been filled with construction foam.

Prosecutor Till von Borries said the man was acting out of revenge because his wife had separated from him and injured his self-esteem.

He said: ‘The indictment alleges that on 9th May 2019, the building subcontractor strangled his two children Maya, 2, and Leo, 5, in his apartment until they were unconscious.

‘In order to make sure that nobody was able to resuscitate them at the last minute, he then injected fast acting construction foam into their mouths in order to close off their airways.’

The court heard that he then decided to tuck the bodies of the children into bed to make it seem as if they were sleeping, and waited for his ex-wife to turn up.

The trial continues.
