Dramatic footage shows a child being thrown from a burning building to safety during an apartment fire.
The shocking clip shared on YouTube shows people in the Akkent area of Almaty, Kazakhstan, desperately trying to flee the blaze that broke out today (August 1).
The child is held out of what appears to be the sixth floor as a group gathers on the ground with a mattress ready to catch them.
Black smoke can be seen billowing from the window behind them as the adult prepares the daring drop.
Luckily, the child appears to land on the mattress.
The adult who dropped them then leans out the window to jump herself, again landing on the mattress.
According to rus.azattyq.org, the Almaty Health Department said that as of 6.30pm local time (1.30pm UK time) 31 people had been taken to hospitals in he city, 16 of them children.
The department said no deaths have been reported at this point.
The video, shared today (Tuesday, August 1) goes on to show members of the crowd kicking and punching ground floor windows, seemingly in a bid to either enter and save people or create exit routes for escapees.
Firefighters are also seen using ladders to access windows and bring people down from other floors, while those still trapped in the apartment block call for crowds to get mattresses into place as they too prepare to jump.
