An unsuspecting dad received thousands of phone calls after his prankster sons displayed his mobile number on a billboard.
Chris Ferry, from New Jersey, USA, has been inundated with over 10,000 calls and texts from people wishing him a happy birthday.
The billboard, which was paid for by his two sons, was placed on a busy highway near Atlantic City.
The message, which proudly displays Chris' face, reads: "Wish My Dad Happy Birthday. Love, Your Sons”
The 62-year-old says the conversations range from well-wishers to more eccentric callers who chat to him about their own personal lives.
“They get me on the phone, they want to talk to me, they want to tell me about their most memorable birthday,” he told KYW News Radio.
Chris has been unable to use his phone because it has been effectively hijacked by the large volume of calls from strangers, he claims.
“I really haven’t been able to use my phone in a normal way,” he said. “There’s a call coming through right now, it’s happened like three times since I’ve been on the phone with you.”
Chris says he sees the funny side of the elaborate prank, despite the havoc it has wreaked on his day-to-day life.
“I got the joke. It was funny, it was good. And then I thought, ‘Man, I’m going to be getting a lot of phone calls.'”
His son, Chris Jr, says he has been pranking his dad as long as he can remember but says has taken the practical joke in his stride.
“He’s trying to answer as many texts as he can, he’s answering phone calls. He’s actually really getting a kick out of it.”
