A bloke who rescues snakes for a living has been turned on by the very beast he was trying to save.
The Indian man, known only as Alex, was called to rescue two snakes near a village in Shivamogga, Karnataka.
Alongside partner Roni, he caught the snakes and attempted to release them into the forest nearby.

But for some odd reason, he decided to try and kiss one of the snakes on the lips – which didn't go down well with the unsuspecting slithery creature.
The snake quickly and painfully dug its front fangs into Alex's lips, leaving him a bloody mess.
He was quickly taken to Shivamogga's district hospital for treatment and was released a few hours later.
The pair of snakes were eventually released into the wild, although it is unclear why the bloke decided that trying to kiss a snake was a good idea.
Video footage of the incident went viral on social media – obviously – with some speculating what would have happened had it been a local who was bitten.
One user on Twitter wrote: “No person has ever died of a snake bite in a village near Varanasi where cobras move around like stray dogs.
“Even children pay little attention to the cobras slithering past them.

“In the rare cases of bites, the villagers refuse antivenom – yet another mystery of India.”
It is not known exactly what kind of snake the bloke was bitten by – although it does look slightly cobra-like – but it is probably safe to assume that it wasn't a highly venomous one as he survived the bite.
According to the World Health Organisation: “Between 81,000 and 138,000 deaths occur each year [from snake bites]. Snakebite envenoming causes as many as 400,000 amputations and other permanent disabilities.
“Many snakebites go unreported, often because victims seek treatment from non-medical sources or do not have access to health care.
“As a result it is believed that many cases of snakebite go unreported.”
