ILLINIOS representative LaShawn K Ford has called for history books to be scrapped and classes to be suspended in schools because current materials and history lesson plans "lead to white privilege and a racist society".
Ford joined a group of community leaders in Evanston on Sunday to ask the state that current curriculums be put on hold as they "unfairly communicate our history".
"[They] overlook the contributions by Women and members of the Black, Jewish, LGBTQ communities and other groups," Ford added in a statement to CNN.
