Denver temperature sizzles to 101 degrees, setting a new record

Denver set a record temperature on Tuesday at 101 degrees.

The new mark breaks the previous record high temperature of 97 degrees, which was set in both 1952 and 1993, according to the National Weather Service.

The Denver weather forecast calls for another 101-degree day Wednesday, with 98 degrees on Thursday, according to the weather service.

At about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, the weather service said that the temperature could still climb a bit during the heat of the day.

Denver is setting up “cooling centers” at the city’s recreation centers to help people beat the extreme heat.

“Hot and dry conditions are expected over the next few days, with the potential for record breaking heat Wednesday and Thursday,” the weather service said.
