Ed Sheeran is in trouble with neighbours again after ‘putting up 16ft pub sign without permission’ on Suffolk estate after already upsetting locals over ‘pond’ which is actually a swimming pool
- Sign hangs outside the Grade II-listed barn that he converted into a drinking den
- It reads, The Lancaster Lock, named after wife Cherry Seaborn’s middle name
- Suffolk Council signed off on pub but made no mention of a sign in documents
Ed Sheeran is being investigated by his local council after putting up a 16ft pub sign on his estate without getting planning permission.
The star has already upset neighbours who fear a new ‘wildlife pond’ he has had built on the Suffolk estate will actually be used as a swimming pool.
And now the singer has angered them further over the plaque outside his pub.

Sheeran applied for planning permission in 2017 to create the private pub, which comes with underground rooms and a passage to the main house.
The pub was given the go-ahead but had to be restored with bricks and tiles which were in-keeping with the original barn. But there was no mention in the documents about the sign – prompting locals to question why it is there.

One told The Mail on Sunday: ‘It seems Ed is now doing what he wants. He seems to be getting permission for some things but thinking he can get away with other aspects of his renovations.’
Last week, we told how Sheeran, 28, had angered his neighbours after putting in a retrospective planning application for ladders and a jetty to be added to his wildlife pond.
The estate already includes an indoor swimming pool, a four-room treehouse and a trendy ‘pod’. He also last year won permission to build his own football pitch. A council spokesperson confirmed it would be visiting Sheeran’s house to look at the sign.
