Emotional Harry repeatedly glances at William across aisle at Queen’s funeral

An emotional Prince Harry could be seen glancing over at his brother Prince William multiple times while the contingent sang a hymn at the start of the Queen’s funeral in Westminster Abbey.

After 10 days of mourning, the world watched as a funeral ceremony took place in London this morning (September 19) to celebrate the monarch’s life.

Despite stepping back from royal duties in early 2020, Harry attended the occasion and sat alongside his wife Meghan Markle in the second row behind his father King Charles III.

William and Kate Middleton, meanwhile, sat on the front row of the aisle opposite the now ex-royals, and Harry was caught stealing a glance at his brother while the congregation made their way through an early hymn.

As the organist led the crowd in song, an emotional Duke of Sussex looked over in his brother’s direction.

William sat with his wife Kate Middleton, and two eldest children, George, nine, and Charlotte, seven. The couple’s other child Louis, who is only 4, was not at the ceremony.

Like many assembled in the church, George struggled to contain his emotion, and wiped away a tear after walking behind the Queen’s coffin with his sister.

Despite having remained in the UK to mourn the loss of his grandmother, Harry was not permitted to wear his military uniform to the ceremony because of his status as a non-working royal.

The prince was not even permitted to salute the Queen’s coffin as it was taken into the Abbey, and royal fans took to Twitter to express their frustration at the decision.

“What is this… Prince Harry actually served 2 tours in Afghanistan but can’t salute his grandmother or wear a military uniform,” one hacked-off user wrote.

After observing the ceremony, the prince joined other members of the Royal Family to follow the Queen’s coffin to Windsor Castle, where she will be buried alongside her late husband Prince Philip, who died last April.
