Harry and Meghan now worth £100m as value of US mansion triples in 9 months

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are now believed to be worth almost £100 million as the value of their stunning mansion in California has soared.

The couple bought the property in Montecito for $14.65 million (£10.5 million) in June 2020, but estate agents in the area say it may now be worth up to three times that.

Their nine-bedroom, 16 bathroom hillside mansion, which overlooks the Pacific Ocean, has a pool, gym, spa, cinema, tennis court and children's play area.

Randy Solakian, an estate agent with Coldwell Banker Global Luxury, told The Times the Sussexes "got a bargain" as the property is probably worth around $40 million (£28.7m).

Sandy Stahl, an agent with Sotheby’s International Realty, said the property market in Montecito has gone "crazy" since the summer and the Sussexes’ home would now sell for "at least double" what they paid.

He also said another Montecito mansion which is very close to the couple's home, was on the market for $21 million (£15.1m) and it is "not nearly as nice".

During a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey broadcast this week, Harry revealed he had been cut off from his family since he decided to step down as a working royal, but did not go into any more detail.

He is believed to be referring to the allowance he received from his father Prince Charles, which is around £2.5 million a year through the Duchy of Cornwall.

The 36-year-old is also said to have around £23 million of inheritance assets from Princess Diana and the Queen Mother.

Harry and Meghan, who are expecting their second child this year, have taken on several lucrative business ventures since moving to America.

The couple have set up a production company and agreed to a deal with Netflix, which is believed to be worth around £71 million, to make documentaries, docu-series, feature films and scripted shows.

They have also signed a deal with Spotify, which is said to be worth £18 million, to make podcasts.

The first podcast, which saw the couple look back on 2020 with Elton John, James Cordon and several other big names, was released in December.

Figures on their publicly reported assets and deals suggest the couple have a combined net worth of around £96 million, reports The Times.

But earlier this week, a dedicated fan set up a GoFundMe to help Harry and Meghan pay off their mortgage.

Anastasia Hanson, 56, set up the donation to support the couple and the "issues" they stand for.

On the GoFundMe website, Ms Hanson said the couple came to the USA "without jobs and with limited funds" and the sooner the pair pay off their mortgage, the sooner they can "help bring healing and restoration to the whole world".
