Is Senator Rand Paul a doctor?

KENTUCKY Senator Rand Paul and Doctor Anthony Fauci got into a heated debate about the origin of coronavirus.

Doctor Fauci and the senator got into a heated exchange during a Senate committee hearing on Tuesday, July 20.

Is Senator Rand Paul a doctor?

Republican Senator Rand Paul is a Kentucky politician and physician.

He owned his own ophthalmology practice and performed eye surgery for 18 years.

Paul graduated from Duke University Medical School in 1988 and completed a general surgery internship at Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

He completed his residency in ophthalmology at Duke University Medical Center.

In 1995, the senator founded the Southern Kentucky Lions Eye Clinic, an organization that provides eye exams and surgery to needy families and individuals.

He is a participant of the Children of the Americas Program and travels to provide free eye surgeries to children around the world.

What did Rand Paul say to Doctor Fauci?

Paul and Doctor Fauci went head-to-head during a Senate hearing on July 20, 2021, over whether the US National Institutes of Health-funded research at a lab in Wuhan, China, the alleged place where the virus originated.

The senator accused the US health institute of funding gain-of-function research, which he claims ultimately led to the outbreak.

Yet, Fauci has denied that the institute funded gain-of-function research in Wuhan, prompting Paul to ask Fauci to retract his previous denial.

Fauci reiterated: “I have never lied before the Congress, and I do not retract that statement.”

Paul kept pressing Fauci, with him saying: “Senator Paul, you do not know what you are talking about, quite frankly, and I want to say that officially.

“You do not know what you are talking about.”

Paul claimed that Fauci “won’t admit the truth” prior to his speaking time expiring.

Fauci replied to Paul, saying: “You are implying that what we did was responsible for the deaths of individuals.

“I totally resent that, and if anybody’s lying here, senator, it is you.”

This is not the first altercation they have, as the pair have feuded in the past over the virus.

Paul has previously regarded Fauci as “a little dictator” regarding facemasks and enforcing coronavirus guidelines.

What did Rand Paul say about coronavirus vaccines?

The Republican told radio host John Catsimatidis that he was refusing the jab until he saw more "evidence that people who have already had the infection are dying in large numbers or being hospitalized or getting very sick."

Paul added: "I just made my own personal decision that I’m not getting vaccinated because I’ve already had the disease and I have natural immunity."

“In a free country, you would think people would honor the idea that each individual would get to make the medical decision, that it wouldn’t be a big brother coming to tell me what I have to do."

He ranted: “Are they also going to tell me I can’t have a cheeseburger for lunch?

"Are they going to tell me that I have to eat carrots only and cut my calories?

"All that would probably be good for me, but I don’t think big brother ought to tell me to do it.”
