Man bleeds to death after smashing in shop window in town centre

A man has tragically died after he reportedly bled out from injuries he sustained smashing a shop window, police report.

It is understood that the man passed away on his way to the hospital after he was found with 'significant injuries' in Loughborough town centre.

A section of pavement has remained taped off in the area this morning as forensics specialists examined the scene, Leicestershire Live reports.

People in the area said they spotted a trail of bloody footprints leading away from the town centre.

A woman who works in the area said: "It's awful. We're just waiting to hear more from the police, but is sounds absolutely tragic.

"It seems he got injured breaking a shop window and walked away and collapsed a short way down the road and just bled to death."

A force spokeswoman said: "Police are investigating the death of a man following an incident in Forest Road, Loughborough, in the early hours of this morning (Thursday).

"Officers were called to a report of a man banging on a door in Forest Road and attended the scene.

"Upon arrival, officers found a man with significant injuries. It’s believed he sustained them following causing damage at a shop in Devonshire Square.

"Unfortunately, the man died from his injuries on his way to hospital.

"We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death and it is not being treated as suspicious.
