A man has died in Liverpool after his body was pulled from a park lake.
Emergency services were called to Walton Hall Park just before 9am on Sunday morning, after witnesses reported seeing a body in the water.
They attempted to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Liverpool Echo reports.
A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said: “Emergency services were contacted at just before 9am following reports that the body of a male had been discovered in the lake.
“The male was removed and CPR commenced but he was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and notify his next of kin.”
The air ambulance has since left the scene and police have cordoned off the area around the lake as officers attempt to establish the full circumstances of the man’s death.
Police are talking to witnesses and are looking over CCTV footage to understand what led to this tragic incident.
They have urged anyone with details about what happened to contact officers by calling 101 or via Twitter @MerPolCC.
