This is the shocking moment an out-of-control car was caught on camera as it hit a young girl and narrowly missed her brother after it careered off the road.

The black Mercedes mounted the pavement outside Aziz Supermarket in Balsall Heath, Birmingham, on Friday.

CCTV filmed the car striking the little girl before knocking into her brother – who managed to stay on his feet.

Both were taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital as a precaution but neither suffered serious injuries.

It is thought that the driver had been suffering a medical episode.

In the clip, a woman and two children can be seen standing outside the small supermarket inspecting the fruit and vegetables outside the store.

The car drives down the residential street in the background before it starts to slowly veer off the road unbeknownst to the people standing outside the store.

It then collides with one of the young girl before knocking into her brother who is able to stay on his feet.

The Mercedes comes to a halt before the woman picks up her daughter and backs away from the crashed vehicle.

The driver abruptly puts the car into reverse before accelerating back down the road with fruit and vegetables covering the bonnet.

It narrowly avoids colliding with another vehicle seconds before the clip comes to an end.
