A MOTORCYCLIST is feared dead in a crash with a double-decker bus that set alight in a horror blaze next to a child’s playground.
The coach was engulfed in flames from end to end after the head-on smash outside a busy North Yorkshire holiday park this evening.
Children fled the play area in terror leaving swings and slides deserted by the Blue Dolphin holiday in Filey.
Shocking footage shows the double decker on fire next to the blackened skeleton of a giant tepee and the flames also engulfed the boundary fences to the park.
Emergency service sirens are also heard blaring as they rushed to tackle the blaze.
Parents filmed the carnage and one told their child: “This is why you never play with fire. It is so dangerous.”
A pall of choking smoke hung over the area as the Yorkshire air ambulance helicopter came into land.
The scene was cordoned off with motorists advised to avoid the area.
It is not yet known but caused the crash but angry online comments blamed the tragedy on speeding.
Anti social driving has become common the coastal roads during lockdown and had continued despite police attempts to crack down, according to the posts.
North Yorkshire Police said: “Police, fire and ambulance services are currently in attendance at a serious collision between a motorcycle and a bus on Stonepit Lane in Filey, near to the Blue Dolphin holiday park.
“The collision occurred just after 5pm this evening (Thurs 16 July 2020)
“The road is currently closed and is expected to remain closed for some time. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes.”
The fire service later extinguished the blaze.
