Mum horrified after finding stranger living in attic in real-life Parasite

A mum-of-three felt "violated" after discovering an intruder had secretly been living in her attic.

Monica Green, from the city of Rockhampton in eastern Australia, found things were out of place after getting back from a doctor’s appointment on Monday, January 18.

The air conditioner had been left on, the back door was open, and chicken nuggets were on the kitchen counter.

Police officers later carried out a search of the property and found evidence someone had been living in the attic.

Ms Green told the Courier Mail: “I felt violated. I felt like my personal space had been invaded. I felt shocked, terrified, scared.”

Her husband is away for work, and the family are now terrified the intruder will return.

Ms Green believes they got access after stealing her keys, and has since changed the locks.

The incident is reminiscent of Oscar-winning film Parasite, in which a maid’s servant ends up living in a rich family’s basement.

She added: “What has this person been doing in my house when I'm not home?

“I spent the night in the house last night with family here, but being alone in the home scares me.”

Police collected forensic evidence from the scene, with the investigation ongoing.

Last year, a man went upstairs to check his attic – and found an entire house concealed in the loft.

The lucky homeowner – believed to live in the US – shared pictures of his bizarre find with Reddit users.

He explained that the original building was two stories tall, with the lower floor operating as a shop and the upper as a home.
