- In the new legal filing, the Peltz family slammed the wedding planners for being ‘mean-spirited’ and attempting a ‘shake down’
Nicola Peltz and her family have slammed their ex wedding planners for being ‘malicious and mean-spirited’, ‘desperate’ and attempting ‘a good old-fashion shake down’, in a new legal filing.
The court documents, filed Thursday in Miami and obtained by DailyMail.com, are the latest in a bitter legal spat between the Transformers movie star, her billionaire father, and the second of three wedding planners Nicola and husband Brooklyn Beckham went through for their lavish nuptials in April.
Nelson Peltz, Nicola’s billionaire investor father and chairman of fast food firm chain Wendy’s, sued planners Nicole Braghin and Arianna Grijalba in December, claiming they botched preparation for the $3.5 million, 500-guest nuptials and refused to refund his $159,000 deposit when he fired them after just eight days.
The women hit back with a 188-page counterclaim last month against Nelson, his wife and daughter, calling him a ‘bully billionaire’, dishing details of the event plans – including an alleged $100,000 hair and make-up bill – and exposing hundreds of text messages that showed Nicola firing off orders and criticizing their design suggestions.

Wedding planners Arianna Grijalba and Nicole Braghin were contacted by the Peltz family in March 2022, six weeks before the wedding. They worked for the Peltz family for nine days before being told they weren’t up to scratch

Now the Peltzes’ lawyers have lodged new court documents demanding Nicola and her mother Claudia be removed from the case because they ‘undisputedly are not parties’ to the wedding planner contract.
Peltz attorney Michael Kreitzer wrote in the filing that divulging the embarrassing texts was ‘a desperate effort to distract from their own failure to accomplish anything of substance in the short time they purported to act as replacement wedding planners.’
He called the inclusion of Nicola, 28, and Claudia, 67, as defendants ‘salacious, meritless and legally deficient’, ‘frivolous’, and even ‘a good old fashion shake-down’.
In the filing, the Peltzes accused Braghin, Grijalba and their company Plan Design Events (PDE) of providing ‘no services of value’.
They attached an invoice from the planners, claiming PDE charged the billionaire family $181,000 for ten ’18-hour’ days plus expenses, on top of the $159,000 deposit.
Both Nelson, 80, and PDE’s legal complaints revealed eye-popping details from the frantic weeks before their April 9 wedding at the $90million family mansion in Palm Beach, Florida.
Celebrity guests included TV chef Gordon Ramsay, Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria, Brooklyn’s mother Victoria Beckham and her fellow former Spice Girls Mel B and Mel C, David Beckham’s former Manchester United teammate Phil Neville, tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams, and Transformers director Michael Bay.
In a group text with her planners, Nicola wrote that her friend, celebrity magician David Blaine, would perform magic at the tables.
She insisted her band wear ‘plain chic tuxes’ and said the music should be ‘early 2000s hip-hop’, rejecting the suggestion of anything more traditional.

The couple planned to serve guests burgers named ‘Brooklyn’ and ‘Nicola’ – the latter wrapped in a low-calorie lettuce leaf rather than a bun.
In one exchange, Nicola sent a picture of an all-pink lounge with an orb light and asked: ‘Who is going to make sure this happen for after party. This light instead of disco ball and the mixes of peaches, apricot and baby pink.’ She also wanted a ‘water aisle and matching water dance floor.’
The Bates Motel star demanded staff hired by the previous wedding planners be ‘cut off’ in one of many blunt texts, saying ‘I hate them’ and ‘can we fire them yet’ in the group chat with Braghin, 42, and Grijalba, 40.
Nicola also slammed the second planners for mistakes in the guest list – including over F1 race champion Lewis Hamilton.
‘Lewis Hamilton did NOT RSVP. So explain why his names on the list please. We spoke to him. He can’t come so explain why you said he rsvpd yes,’ one irate text from the actress read. ‘I’m tired of catching mistakes on this rsvp list honestly. When will I get a straight answer on this.’
Braghim was allegedly reduced to tears by the stress of the project, Brooklyn called it ‘a mess!’ in texts and Nicola said it was ‘more like A MURDER SCENE.’
The planners claimed at one point Nelson wanted to ‘cancel the wedding’ and allegedly called it ‘a s*** show’ but his wife ‘begged’ him not to as it would ‘destroy Nicola’s career’.
PDE’s complaint claimed Nelson ‘paid more than $100,000 plus travel expenses for Nicola’s hair and make-up services for the wedding,’ and that ‘Claudia mentioned to Braghin that Nelson could not know the cost or he would ‘kill her and be so mad.’ ‘
The Peltzes were also afraid of Victoria Beckham finding out about ‘mistakes’ in the wedding planning, according to PDE, amid reportedly tense relations between the two families.
Nicola appears to be getting frustrated with the wedding planners as her message – in the blue bubbles – says: ‘Lewis Hamilton did NOT RSVP. So explain why his names on the list please. We spoke to him. He can’t come so explain why you said he rsvpd yes.’
The planner then responded saying: ‘I need time to do this. I’m going to take a moment to learn the app and send you the information, I hate looking like a fool but I hate the most not giving you what you need ASAP. I will be back soon.’

Nicola’s choice to wear a Valentino couture gown rather than a wedding dress from Victoria’s label reportedly sparked a feud – though Nicola later denied it.
A Peltz spokesperson has previously said the planners’ complaint ‘is replete with inaccuracies and their claims have no merit’.
Nelson hired Braghin and Grijalba on March 1 after parting ways with their first planner Preston Bailey, who masterminded Catherine Zeta-Jones’ 2000 wedding to Michael Douglas, just six weeks before the event.
The decision was allegedly mutual and due to his ‘overcommitted’ schedule.
With their latest court filing the Peltzes attached a March 25 2022 invoice from PDE showing charges of $139,998 for 10 18-hour days allegedly worked by Grijalba and Braghin, as well as expenses including a flight from Uruguay to Miami ‘to attend Peltz meeting as per Claudia’s request’.
The Peltzes’ filing claims that PDE ‘(who claim to be experts in wedding planning and logistics) could not even assemble an accurate guest list after one week of alleged 18-hour days.’
Kreitzer wrote that ‘the 127 pages of text messages that PDE improperly attached to the third-party complaint demonstrate that Nicola was gracious and patient in her interactions with the wedding planners that her father purportedly hired.’

Wedding planner Michelle Ragos got the job done in the end – but charged the Peltz family an escalated fee because of the tight turn-around
A source close to the family said that Nicola was ‘stressed out’ by having to cover for her planners’ alleged incompetence while working on two movies, and claimed Braghin and Grijalba were only after ‘headlines’.
‘Over the course of the year and then the weeks leading up to the wedding Nicola was working on Lola James and then doing night shoots on Welcome to Chippendales which she finished just before the wedding,’ the source said.
‘While doing night shoots and trying to be present for her colleagues on set she was fielding calls and questions from her friends about their ability to RSVP.
‘Who wouldn’t be stressed out by that? Her concern should have been on the design and the elements of her wedding that affected her as a bride and not on how her friends could say they weren’t coming.
‘When [new wedding planner] Michelle Ragos got involved, she took a lot of Nicola’s stress away. Nicola was finally able to focus on her work and the things about her wedding that made her excited.’
