Covid-19 cases seem to be on the rise in Russia with its tally rising by 40,017 over the past day, according to the anti-coronavirus crisis centre.
On Wednesday (September 28) it was reported that Russia is now tackling over 20million Covid cases as the numbers rack up, as over 36,000 cases were recorded the previous day.
Despite the high cases, there are less people hospitalised with the virus, as an estimated 3,300 people were admitted to hospital with Covid-19 over the past day, down 9.6% from a day earlier.

While the number of hospitalised patients has increased in 34 regions of the country, that figure has decreased in 49 other regions.
The anti-coronavirus crisis centre reported that the nation's capital's Covid cases had risen by 4,041 over the past day, compared to the 2,089 cases a day earlier, reaching a total of over 3million cases in Moscow.
While in St. Petersburg, the country's second-largest city, the number of cases increased by 1,771 over the past day compared to 2,081 a day earlier, reaching a total of almost 2m cases.
Over the past day, Russia suffered 111 Covid related deaths, reaching 387,054, a figure that was confirmed by the anti-coronavirus crisis centre.

This news comes after the worrying news of a new virus that could both dodge both the Covid vaccine and infect humans.
According to scientists in the US, a new Russian bat virus with horseshoe bats understood to be the source of the virus – called Khosta-2 – could share similarities to pathogens from Covid-19.
Michael Letko, a virologist and corresponding author of the study said: "Our research further demonstrates that sarbecoviruses circulating in wildlife outside of Asia – even in places like western Russia where the Khosta-2 virus was found – also pose a threat to global health and ongoing vaccine campaigns against SARS-CoV-2".
