Royal insider says Meghan’s claim about Prince Harry wedding is ‘complete lie’

One of the key claims from Meghan Markle in the new controversial Netflix documentary about the lives of her and husband Prince Harry has been branded as a “lie” by an insider.

During the self-titled show released on the streaming site yesterday (December 8), the Duchess of Sussex claimed that she was not able to invite her niece Ashleigh Hale to her wedding because a PR officer told her not to.

Ms Hale is the daughter of Meghan's outspoken half-sister Samantha Markle.

During the show, Meghan detailed the moment she told Ashleigh she wasn't invited to her wedding ith Prince Harry.

She said: “They just couldn’t wrap their head around it and I have compassion for it.

“How do we explain that this half-sister isn’t invited to the wedding, but that the half-sister’s daughter is?”

“And so, with Ashleigh, the guidance at the time was to not have her come to our wedding.

“I called her and I had her on speakerphone and we talked her through what guidance we were being given and why this assessment was made and . . . that’s painful.”

But now, as the fallout from the show continues, a source has claimed that this was not true.

Speaking to The Sun, they said: “It’s a complete lie.

“Meghan said she didn’t want her exposed to the media.”

No member of the Royal Family has commented on the claim, or any claims in the show, despite the Daily Star reaching out.

The Royal couple claimed at the start of the first part of the documentary that the Royal Family declined to comment on anything mentioned in it – but this was later disputed by Royal officials, who claimed they were never actually approached to do so.

Part two is released on December 16.
