The Trump family cancelled their annual Thanksgiving trip to the South Florida golf resort and will stay at the White House instead. They have only left the executive residence for a Veterans Day trip to Arlington National Cemetery since Joe Biden was projected as the new President-elect.
According to Business Insider, some aides suggested there was a “bunker mentality” in the White House.
Stephanie Grisham, the spokeswoman for the First Lady, announced the family’s intentions to stay at the White House during the festivity.
In a tweet, she said: “Holiday Scheduling Update: The @POTUS & @flotus will be celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday at the @WhiteHouse this year.”
Despite the lack of public appearances, Mr Trump has continued to post a series of tweets perpetuating allegations that the presidential election was rigged.
On Monday afternoon, Elections Canada shared a tweet regarding the country’s voting system.
The tweet read: “Elections Canada does not use Dominion Voting Systems.
“We use paper ballots counted by hand in front of scrutineers and have never used voting machines or electronic tabulators to count votes in our 100-year history. #CdnPoli”
Mr Trump shared the statement on Tuesday, adding: “This says it all!”
The tweet came after on Monday Mr Trump accused “the radical left Democrats” of “trying to steal” the election.
He said: “The Radical Left Democrats, working with their partner, the Fake News Media, are trying to STEAL this Election. We won’t let them!”
Mr Biden hit back at the allegations, denouncing Mr Trump as one of the “most irresponsible presidents in American history”.
He said the incumbent president’s claims regarding the November election were “incredibly damaging”.

He made the remarks while speaking to reporters after a call with state governors on Thursday.
The President-elect said the incumbent President’s refusal to concede the election “sends a horrible message about who we are as a country.”
Mr Biden added: “What the president’s doing now … it’s going to be another incident where he will go down in history as being one of the most irresponsible presidents in American history.
“It’s just not within the norm at all, and there’s a question as to whether it’s even legal.”
He said the Trump Administration’s refusal to brief his team about coronavirus procedures and a potential vaccine would “put lives at risk”.
He highlighted Mr Trump’s “Operation Warp Speed” to deploy coronavirus vaccines swiftly.
Mr Biden said: “There is no excuse not to share the data and let us begin to plan.
“It’s going to take us time if we don’t have access to all of this data. It’s going to put us behind the 8-ball by a matter of a month or more.”
