A Canadian couple had to make a second attempt at a gender reveal surprise after their dog failed to pop a balloon to announce the sex of their unborn child.

Dental hygienist Marie del Rosario, 33, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, and her partner Jasa Grant, 34, invited friends and family to their home where they wound announce the sex of their baby.

According to the plan, the couple would hold a helium-filled black balloon containing pieces of coloured paper.

The couple were surrounded by dozens of pink and blue balloons but the vital information was contained within a black helium balloon

Unfortunately, the couple’s French bulldog mixed breed Doobie, failed his one job.

The couple were surrounded by dozens of pink and blue balloons but the vital information was contained within a black helium-filled balloon.

Instead of popping the balloon after leaping up and giving a nip, Doobie headbutted the latex-filled message carrier, separating it from its piece of string shooting up into the air, leaving their guests disappointed.

Amazingly, instead of soaring thousands of feet into the sky and travelling for dozens of miles, the balloon landed in a nearby park – enabling the couple to repeat the attempted reveal.

This time, the balloon, which had been sadly deflated was burst by Doobie without any drama showering the dog in pieces of pink shredded paper.

After Doobie  headbutted the balloon, the piece of string was dislodged, sending it shooting into the sky

Luckily the balloon was rapidly losing helium and came to rest in a nearby park
